    The Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Office for Victim Assistance, is currently canvassing for the Child Victim Program Coordinator at the GS 13 and GS 14 grade levels.   

    The FBI is committed to fulfilling our responsibility to victims of crime as outlined in the Attorney General Guidelines and Federal laws.  The Office for Victims of Crime (OVA) leads the nation in service delivery to federal victims of crime and especially vulnerable populations to include child victims.  

    The Child Victim Program Coordinator serves as a subject matter expert on issues related to child development, mental health impact of child victimization, victim assistance, and the rights and special services afforded to child victims.   Responsibilities include providing expert advice and consultation to Agents, Victim Specialists, Program Managers and other FBI employees on management of cases involving sexual exploitation, child pornography, sextortion and kidnapping.  The coordinator will be working with the Violent Crimes Against Children Section, Major Crimes Coordination Unit and other headquarters units to address all child threat priorities.  The coordinator also provides management for FBI responses to victims, witnesses and family members of child related crimes as needed. Response management includes direct services to victims and oversight of service provision by local Victim Specialist and coordination with other FBI entities and Federal State and local agencies.  In addition to demonstrating expertise in child victimization the incumbent will assist in writing and developing policy/guidance as it relates to best practice service delivery.   

    This position requires the incumbent to deploy when needed to assist in large scale/complex child cases/operations to include the victim assistance rapid deployment team for mass casualties involving children.  The coordinator is responsible for critical analysis of large scale cases and provides recommendation for quality improvement to enhance OVA support of operations. 

    Best qualified candidates will be able to demonstrate exceptional skills in project management, communication, coordination with multiple agencies on complex operations, dynamic presentation skills and have the ability to work well within a team context.  

    This position is located in Linthicum, MD. 

    Working Hours:  9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. (M-F) (starting time may be flexible); with after hour(s)/ on call responsibility. 

     

    Travel:  Occasional travel may be required for program/victim assistance, special deployment, and/or conferences/training.

    Executive Director, Safe and Sound Child Advocacy Center,

    Midland, MI 

    The Safe and Sound Child Advocacy Center works together with community partners to support healing and justice for children and families who have been victimized. SASCAC is fully accredited through the National Children's Alliance.

    SASCAC seeks a full-time Executive Director who has a passion for protecting the well-being of children and a demonstrated history of strong leadership, superb communication skills, and the ability to build strong working relationships.  Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, or a related field is required; master’s degree preferred.  Prior experience in child advocacy or a related field and an understanding of not-for-profit finances is preferred.  Administrative experience, including grant writing and budgeting, is preferred.

    Salary will be based on candidate qualifications and prior experience.

    Summary: The Executive Director/Forensic Interviewer is responsible for the overall management and future progress of the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) under the direction of the President and the Board of Directors. The position is charged with interviewing child victims of reported sexual and/or physical abuse as well as coordinating services for the child and the family.

    Responsibilities of the Executive Director/Forensic Interviewer include but are not limited to the following:

    • Coordinate interview schedules with members of the Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT) and family.
    • Facilitate MDT pre-interview and post-interview meetings.
    • Prepare for and attend case review hearings.
    • Interview children alleging sexual and/or physical abuse using forensic interviewing techniques in accordance with National Children’s Advocacy Training and State of Michigan Forensic Interviewing Protocol.
    • Provide referrals to agencies that can assist with services needed by the child and the family.
    • Assist in regular follow-up with the child and the family.
    • Maintain case and advocacy center statistics in conjunction with case tracking reports to be presented to the Board of Directors at regularly scheduled monthly meetings and the National Children’s Alliance (NCA) on the required reporting schedule. Also responsible for all reports and documentation of the Center’s activities for the Children’s Trust Fund.
    • Provide primary representation of the Child Advocacy Center to the general public, community boards and related state and national groups.
    • Supervise staff, student interns and volunteers.
    • Develop and manage long-term goals and the program budget for the Child Advocacy Center in cooperation with the Treasurer and the Board of Directors.
    • Participate in building strong community referral sources including updated research on each partner agency and ensure signed partner agency agreements are up to date yearly in October.
    • Assist the Board of Directors in locating and raising funds needed for programming and participate in all fundraising activities for the Child Advocacy Center.
    • Develop and implement a community child abuse prevention plan, pertinent to assessed needs of children in Tuscola County in cooperation with the Board of Directors.
    • Other duties and programs as assigned.

    Qualifications Required:    Bachelor’s Degree with preference given to Human Services, Social Services or related field. Forensic Interview Training from both the State of Michigan and the National Children’s Advocacy Center located in Huntsville, Alabama is preferred. Advanced Forensic Interview Training may be required after two years of employment as a Forensic Interviewer at the Child Advocacy Center of Tuscola County.  Preference given to a candidate with experience working with children and families.

    Candidate must possess superior written and verbal communication skills and an ability to work in a cooperative manner with diverse professional groups. Candidate is subject to a background check, central registry check and must pass a drug test.

    Starting Salary: $41,513.00
